7. Proposed engagement approach

7.1. Engagement strategy

7.1.1.    Engagement with a range of stakeholders is fundamental to the plan-making process. It helps to ensure the local plan reflects local needs and priorities whilst working to meet the growth needs of Dorset.

7.1.2.    The council has prepared a draft engagement strategy which sets out the approach for involvement in preparation of the local plan. The draft strategy sets out: 

  • key community engagement principles
  • the stages of consultation that will be undertaken
  • how information will be made available
  • how and when stakeholders and communities will be consulted
  • the methods that may be used
  • how responses will be considered at each stage

7.1.3.    The questions set out below relate to this engagement strategy.
