Overview
Youth Parliament (UKYP) is run by elected young members known as Members of Youth Parliament (MYP). They join over 300 young people from other constituencies to debate local, regional and national topics that will then be taken to the House of Commons.
Are you interested in standing for Dorset at a national level in 2026? Run for election!
To apply you must:
- be aged between 11 to 18.
- live, work or study in the Dorset Council area
- be able to commit around seven hours a month
- be passionate in driving for change today, tomorrow and in the future

Why your views matter
As an MYP you will represent your peers, advocating on their behalf and providing important information back to Dorset. You will develop skills of public speaking, active listening and personal skills whilst getting hands on experience in policy and change making.
