Julian's Bridge footway trial
Overview
Dorset Council is trialling a temporary footway on Julian's Bridge to provide a safe route for pedestrians, created by making the bridge into a signal traffic lane with temporary traffic signals.
The trial will run from 26 May until 3 July 2026 to give a clear understanding of the effects of the lights in different circumstances, including special events, school half term and when traffic is at normal levels.
At the end of the trial the temporary traffic lights and footway will be removed and the bridge return to the previous arrangement.
The trial is necessary to gather evidence on options for a long-term plan for safe provision for pedestrians on the bridge, and to enable the bridge to be able to be more easily maintained.
We want to hear your views on the bridge and the trial of traffic lights and to understand the impacts on residents, businesses and visitors to the area.
In advance, during and after the trial, traffic levels and speeds will be monitored throughout Wimborne Minster and the surrounding area.
If you would like to complete the survey in a different way, like a paper survey, please contact: activetravel@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
