Dorset Design Code Survey
Overview
Work is starting on the development of a Dorset Design Code.
The Dorset Design Code will raise design standards of future development through clear rules and guidance. It will help make sure that new buildings and spaces are:
- locally distinctive
- high quality
- sustainable
The code will show how to apply policies from the Dorset Local Plan for new developments. This will include how developments are designed and built including how:
- energy is provided and land is used
- waste is collected
- trees and nature are included
It will also explain how to:
- create places that are easy to move around
- design safe, inclusive and sociable public spaces
- protect and enhance nature and use Dorset’s natural resources wisely
The code will set rules and guidance for new buildings to ensure they:
- look good, are sustainable and fit in with their surroundings
- offer the right mix of homes, shops and services
- meet people’s needs and help communities thrive
(An example of development that is well connected)
Why your views matter
We are asking the people of Dorset about your experiences in your communities, and this is a short anonymous survey so you can tell us more about where you live, to help develop the Dorset Design Code. The questionnaire will take between 3 and 10 minutes.
If you wish to follow the progress of the Dorset Design Code and the Dorset Local Plan then please visit the Dorset Council Design Code webpage.
