Dorset local nature recovery strategy consultation – survey results
Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts in the youth survey for the Dorset Local Nature Recovery Strategy. We've listened carefully to your answers and added them to the main consultation survey results, which you can now check out below.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what you told us:
- 66% agreement with the Shared Vision
- 86% agreement with the Joint Mission
- Over 90% agreement with Nature Recovery Priorities 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 & 12
- Over 80% agreement with Nature Recovery Priorities 1, 5 & 8
- 59% will use the strategy to find potential activities they can do to make space for nature, and 50% will see how their activities join up with others
Your feedback also highlighted areas where we can improve the strategy or inform future delivery.

Overview
Dorset is home to lots of plants and animals. But the number of animals and plants is getting smaller, and there are fewer places for wildlife to live.
Nature recovery is about fixing this and making more, better, bigger and joined up spaces for nature across the countryside, coast and towns.
So, we’ve been working with people across Dorset on a plan to help nature – called a local nature recovery strategy.
This survey has been created for young people to help shape this new plan for nature. There is a different survey for adults that is a bit longer, but young people can fill that one out too if you are really interested in nature and have more to tell us.
There is also a paper survey if you do not want to do it online. You can find this at all libraries in Dorset, in the 'Related' section at the bottom of the page where you can download it, emailing LNRS@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk, or calling 01305 221000 and they can send you a copy.
If you want to, you can find out more about nature recovery before you do the survey by exploring the links below:
