Working in a Modern Democracy – Councillor survey

Overview

The Association of Democratic Services Officers (ADSO) would like to hear your views on how local democracy is changing, and the support that you might need from the officers you work with. This survey is part of ADSO’s Working in a Modern Democracy programme, which is exploring the possible influences that will shape local democracy over the next five years.

We would like to hear from councillors in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as this is where our ADSO members work. In Scotland, this role is fulfilled by a separate organisation.

Why your views matter

As a democratically elected councillor, you are working at the heart of local democracy. We want to hear your views, experiences, questions, ideas and concerns, so we can better understand what the future of local democracy might look like for councillors, for citizens, and for those working in democratic roles.

This insight will help ADSO and our members to provide the best possible support and advice. That’s why listening to councillors and learning from your perspective is so important to us.

If you wish to leave an email address, we will be able to contact you about your answers, but this is optional.

Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions.  Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Dorset Council and ADSO are working in partnership on this project. Your answers will be treated in the strictest of confidence and the results will be anonymised.  Quotes from your answers may be used in the final report. The raw data from this survey will be held by Dorset Council and shared with ADSO and will take account of all relevant GDPR regulations. Please see Dorset Council's privacy policy for more information.

If you would like to respond in a different way, like a paper survey, please contact us at info@adso.co.uk
