Solid fuel burning survey
Overview
Solid fuel burning in wood burning stoves and open fires is on the increase in the UK and is now the single largest source of particulate matter emissions in our country.
As part of a Defra funded project, Dorset Council is investigating current levels of particulate matter emissions in and around the Dorset Council area.
To do this we have set up monitoring stations at various sample sites across the county to help us measure the presence of specific particulate matter in our air.
To help us better understand what is having an impact on emission levels, we need to learn more about how residents in and around these sites heat their homes.
