Economic Growth Strategy

Closes 17 Jan 2025

Opened 2 Dec 2024

Overview

A strong economy with sustainable and equitable growth underpins everything Dorset Council wants to achieve. It will increase wealth, create more opportunities for people, improve living standards, and boost funds for public services.

Dorset Council wants to encourage sustainable and equitable growth, foster innovation, support businesses and help create new jobs. To do this, we will develop and implement an Economic Growth Strategy which is representative of the area’s unique economic geography and specific business sectors. A strategy that considers an approach to growth regardless of location but also plays on localised strengths and opportunities.

We recognise a change is needed to break the cycle of slow economic growth.  We need to support and diversify the economy by embedding digital technology across all sectors, investing in our advanced and often bespoke manufacturing sector  We need to make more of our natural advantages in clean energy, maritime and defence and to introduce scale into these sectors.

The survey should take approximately 10 to 12 minutes to complete.

Please note, any data collected follows Dorset Council's privacy policy.

If you would like to fill out the survey in an alternative format, such as a paper copy, please contact economicgrowth@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
