A Big Conversation

Overview

Here in Dorset, we’ve seen some big changes recently with the local election in May, and a change of national government following the General Election. As part of the new administration for Dorset Council, we want to create a new council plan. This will set out our key priorities to be delivered by the council over the next 5 years.

We want to make change happen.

This summer, we’re launching ‘A Big Conversation’ across Dorset, and we want to hear from you, our residents. Your voice is important. What do you think the council should focus on over the next 5 years?

There are 4 main areas where we really want to make a difference:

  • growing our economy
  • providing high quality housing
  • responding to the climate crisis
  • supporting communities for all

We deliver around 450 services to the 380,000 residents of Dorset, and this vital work will continue. The 4 proposed priorities represent the areas where we want to make significant improvement over the next 5 years.

What do you think? Are these the right priorities for Dorset Council?

How you can get involved

You can get involved in the Big Conversation online and interact with each other (and us). Share your ideas, rate others' ideas and comment on their posts.

You can also get involved in-person at our events or at your local library. See more information about this on our dedicated page.

Closing dates

Our last event will be in Sherborne (Market) Sunday 15 September from 10am to 3pm.

The online activity will also close on Sunday 15 September at 11.59pm.
